Poland came up short in direct UEFA 2024 qualifying as they finished third in Group E behind Albania and the Czech Republic. Like all the playoff qualifiers, their UEFA Nations League campaign has offered a life raft. Three wins from eight was the story of the group stages, two at home and one in the Faroe Islands. However, an unbeaten overall home record from four matches shows their strength in Warsaw.
Whatever the final result is, don’t expect a thriller, as all four home matches featured under 2.5 goals scored. Robert Lewandowski is always the name to watch for with Poland, and he netted three goals in qualifying, and already has 20 so far this season with Barcelona.

Victory for Wales would put them within one game of reaching a fourth successive major tournament with a potential playoff final against either Poland or Estonia on the horizon. Rob Page’s side rallied brilliantly in the second half of the group stages, to go unbeaten in their final four outings, but they were squeezed out by Turkey and Croatia. One defeat in six games in Cardiff since the start of 2023 is a major positive against a Finnish side that lost in Denmark and Slovenia.

In the post Gareth Bale era, Wales have looked to spread the goals around in 2023, with Fulham winger Harry Wilson netting three key goals in qualifying. All three came at home in Cardiff and he will be on free kick duty once more in the Welsh capital.

In between being linked with the Ireland job, Gus Poyet has been preparing Greece for their showdown with Kazakhstan, and they will fancy their chances of reaching the playoff final. Despite his reputation for being a cagey operator, Poyet was only able to keep a home clean sheet against Gibraltar in qualifying, with Ireland, France and the Netherlands all finding the net in Athens. Three of those four home matches included over 2.5 goals scored and Kazakhstan scored in nine of their 10 qualifiers.
