Former Ghana international Sulley Muntari has offered some seasoned advice to highly-rated youngster Ernest Nuamah, encouraging the winger to remain at Olympique Lyonnais despite growing interest from top European clubs.
Nuamah, 20, has been a bright spark for Lyon this season following his move from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland. The Right to Dream Academy graduate made 33 appearances in all competitions before suffering an injury setback, notching six goals and providing two assists. His dynamic displays have reportedly attracted the attention of Premier League clubs including Fulham, Everton, and Crystal Palace.
Speaking to AfricaFoot, Muntari praised Nuamah’s exceptional ability and work ethic, but cautioned against making a premature jump to a bigger club.
“Ernest is an exceptional talent,” said the former Inter and AC Milan midfielder. “He’s unpredictable on the ball, thrives in one-on-one situations, and has a real knack for causing problems for defenders. His mentality is what sets him apart, and even with the injury, clubs are still tracking him — that says a lot about his quality.”
Muntari stressed that Lyon remains the ideal platform for Nuamah to continue his growth and hone his skills.
“At his age, consistency and the right environment are key. Lyon gives him that — he’s playing regularly, developing under less pressure, and maturing on and off the pitch,” Muntari added. “Another season at Lyon could be exactly what he needs before stepping up to a bigger challenge.”
