Despite the loss, talisman Inaki Williams says he was proud of the performance of his teammates.
Williams, who was ruled out of the squad due to injury, took to social media to express his admiration for his teammates, saying he’s “more than proud” of them and that they’ll “come back stronger.”
The said match itself was a thrilling encounter, with Athletic Club taking the lead through Mikel Jauregizar’s impressive long-range shot.
However, Manchester United dominated the game, scoring four goals, including a brace from Mason Mount.
The Red Devils’ victory sealed their spot in the Europa League final, where they’ll face Tottenham Hotspur.
The final will take place at San Mames, Athletic Bilbao’s home ground, on May 21.
Manchester United’s impressive form in European competitions this term has been notable, remaining the only unbeaten side with nine wins and five draws in 14 games.
