The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has directed the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to revoke the appointments of 17 staff members.
The decision followed a meeting on February 23 involving the Minister, the NSA Board and management.
The recruitment process reportedly did not receive clearance from the Public Services Commission and the Ministry of Finance.
The Board had earlier asked for the appointments to be cancelled, stating that proper procedures were not followed.
Some of the positions, including Chief Operations Officer, are said not to exist within the Authority’s approved structure.
Public sector rules require vacancies to be advertised and candidates vetted before being placed on government payroll.
The issue reportedly created tension between the Board and management after earlier directives were not implemented.
The NSA currently has about 121 employees at its headquarters as reforms continue within the Authority.
