Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association Fred Pappoe is calling for a thorough review of the Black Stars bonus structure.
According to the football administrator, the reevaluation is necessary to boost the morale of the players and the management team.
The bonuses for the Black Stars have been a persistent issue in Ghana, particularly leading up to major tournaments.
Recent discussions have proposed a shift from winning bonuses after every game to a system of qualification bonuses.
In an interview on Happy FM, Pappoe stated, “Whether it should be a winning bonus or qualification bonus, I believe the bonus structure of the Black Stars should be reviewed.
“The structure should be done in a way that becomes motivating for the playing body and management as well.” he stated.
Ghana secured qualification to the 2023 African Cup of Nations which is set to be played in Ivory Coast and drawn in group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
The competition is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
