Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that the resumption date of the Ghana Premier League remains unknown following its suspension.
The league was put on hold after a tragic incident occurred during a match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman SC on Sunday, resulting in the death of Francis Frimpong, a staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko.
The GFA suspended the league to engage with relevant stakeholders and discuss the ramifications of the violence and ways to clamp down on hooliganism.
“For now, the resumption of the Premier League is unknown. The FA has decided to hold onto the competition until further notice,” he told Max FM.
“At this point, the other competitions have not recorded any incident. Nothing has happened in the other leagues. And then also, you don’t have to forget there’s always the calendar to follow,” he concluded.
