Rangers could land Morelos 2.0 in deal for Patrick Cutrone – FootballFanCast.com

Glasgow Rangers have enjoyed a busy summer of business in the transfer window with plenty of ins and outs at Ibrox.

Ross Wilson sanctioned the departures of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, who both played key roles in the 2021/22 campaign, and has moved quickly to improve the squad.

The Gers chief has brought in John Souttar, Rabbi Matondo, Tom Lawrence, Antonio Colak, Ben Davies, Malik Tillman, and Ridvan Yilmaz.

It now remains to be seen whether or not the club will add more to their roster before the end of August and one player who has been linked with a move to the Premiership side is Italian striker Patrick Cutrone.

Wolves reportedly paid £16m to sign the forward from AC Milan and he has struggled to kick on since making the switch to England.

The striker made 12 appearances in his first top-flight campaign for the club and only mustered up two goals, whilst failing to record an assist. He then made two outings the following season before heading back to Italy on loan, scoring three goals in 15 Serie A starts on loan at Empoli.

By striking a deal to sign Cutrone, Rangers could help the gem to rediscover the form he showed early on in his career and uncover Alfredo Morelos 2.0.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s stocky Colombian predator is the go-to man for goals at Ibrox – scoring 11 in the Premiership and four in the Europa League last term – and the Wolves man has the potential to have a similar impact.

Former Ibrox icon Gennaro Gattuso once claimed that he has “venom inside of him” and he could be a fantastic player for the Light Blues if they can inject that back into his game by bringing him to Scotland.

He first caught the eye whilst playing for Milan’s reserve side. The frontman scored a stunning 43 goals in 67 matches, whilst also assisting six for his teammates.

His phenomenal form landed him a place in the first team and he went on to score 27 times in 90 appearances in the famous red and black – assisting eight along the way.

At the age of 24, Cutrone has plenty of time to get back to his best and put his spell at the Molineux behind him. If Rangers can bring him in and help him to rediscover his Midus touch then he has the quality to be a Morelos-esque figure in the final third for the club.
