Osimhen out, Ndidi leads as Nigeria name Unity Cup squad for showdown in London

The Super Eagles have named their squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in Brentford with some major omissions.

Fans hoping to see Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, or Calvin Bassey will be disappointed, as none of them made the cut. Felix Agu will train with the squad but won’t play.

Meanwhile, those included are Nathan Tella and Cyriel Dessers, alongside some home-based hopefuls like goalkeeper Amas Obasogie and defender Junior Nduka.

The absence of the regulars opens the door for a new wave of players to step into the spotlight when Nigeria lines up against Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago between 27 and 31 May.

With the tournament set at Brentford’s G-Tech Community Stadium, Premier League stars Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka will anchor the midfield, while Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze bring the firepower upfront.

As Nigeria prepares to test its squad depth, all eyes now turn to Ghana’s Otto Addo, who is expected to reveal his team in the coming days.
