Nsoatreman FC emerged as the winners of the MTN FA Cup, defeating Bofoakwa Tano 5-4 on penalties at the University of Ghana Stadium.
This victory marks the first time the club has won the domestic cup competition since its establishment.
Bofoakwa Tano opened the scoring with a delightful move, finished off by Richard Dzikoe after just 21 minutes. The Hunters headed into the break as the better side, holding a deserved lead.
However, Nsoatreman pressed for the equalizer after the break. After a long wait, they finally levelled the tie 11 minutes before the full-time whistle, with Sadat Mohammed grabbing a well-deserved equalizer for Maxwell Konadu’s side.
Sadat’s equalizer forced the game into extra time, which also produced no winner and led to penalties where Nsoatreman carried the day.
As a result of their MTN FA Cup triumph, Nsoatreman will also get the chance to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
