Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, has announced plans to organize a friendly match between his Brazilian club, Corinthians, and Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
Depay, who is currently in Ghana for the Christmas holidays, made the announcement during a visit to Kotoko’s training grounds on Thursday as the team prepared for their upcoming match against Bibiani Goldstars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
In a video shared on Asante Kotoko’s social media platforms, the former Manchester United and Barcelona star was seen encouraging the players and sharing his expertise.
“I like what I see and I will urge you to keep going. Never give up. I respect all of you guys. I’m trying to raise something for the team to maybe play a friendly game against my team (Corinthians) in Brazil. It’s in the plans so let hope we can make it happen so that you guys can showcase your talent” he said.
Kotoko are currently 5th on the Ghana Premier League standings with 24 points.
