And, when all was said and done, though they failed to make it five wins on the spin, PSG did do enough to regain the title of France’s standout club.
A solitary goal – netted by oft-criticised summer arrival Lionel Messi – proved enough to guide the capital giants to a share of the spoils in Paris.
After being picked out by attacking partner in crime Neymar 25 yards from goal, Messi took one touch to get the ball out of his feet, before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed effort beyond the clutches of Jean-Louis Leca in the Lens goal:

Bayern make history
France, though, is not the only one of Europe’s top-five leagues to have crowned a champion across the day to date.
Elsewhere, a 3-1 Der Klassiker downing of Borussia Dortmund saw Julian Nagelsmann’s Bayern Munich also clinch glory in the Bundesliga, to etch the club’s name ever further into the history books of European football:
