Legon Cities coach Paa Kwesi Fabin fumes over bias officiating in defeat against Karela United

Legon Cities tactician Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin has expressed his frustration with officiating following his team’s 2-0 defeat against Karela United in Week 18 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The domestic top-flight returned last weekend after several weeks’ absence due to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ivory Coast emerged as winners.

Karela United hosted Legon Cities at the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre and made their home advantage count after inflicting a 2-0 win over their opponent.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the much-anticipated encounter.

Unfortunately for Legon Cities, the team was reduced to 10-man in the early minutes of the game when Samuel Tenedu was giving the marching orders.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the Royals trainer was furious with the decisions taken by the officials in the game, particularly showing his player red card.

“You said we shouldn’t talk about Ghana referees but look at what happened here. We were reduced to 10-man just eight minutes into the game which was uncalled for” he said.

“The red card changed the game, it affected our plans. What can you do when you are reduced to 10-man just eight minutes into a game? he quizzed.

“The referee was bias on us. They say we shouldn’t talk about referees but Ghanaian referees are spoiling the game” he added.

Legon Cities find themselves on the 11th position with 24 points after 18 matches.
