Asante Kotoko have terminated the contract of defender Kwasi Asante just five months after he joined the club during the January 2025 transfer window
The mutual termination follows Asante’s failure to make a single appearance for the Porcupine Warriors due to persistent injuries.
The 29-year-old was signed as part of Kotoko’s mid-season defensive reinforcements, bringing experience from stints with Hafia Club of Guinea and Simba FC. He was expected to provide depth and stability to the backline.
However, shortly after arriving, the left-back suffered multiple injury setbacks that kept him out of both training and matchday squads. Despite efforts from the club’s medical staff, he was unable to recover full fitness.
Sources reveal that the club and player held discussions over the past few weeks and agreed to part ways in what was described as a mutual and amicable decision. Kotoko is understood to have compensated Asante as part of the agreement.
He is now a free agent and will look to rebuild his career ahead of the 2025/26 season.
