Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams, has expressed his eagerness to serve as Ghana’s next Minister of Sports and Recreation.
Following his nomination by President John Mahama on Tuesday, Adams is set to face the Appointments Committee for vetting.
He will replace Mustafa Ussif, who held the position from 2021.
“As a party member, I have done enough and knew I was going to play a role in the administration in one form or the other,” Adams told GHOne TV.
“I was prepared to serve in any ministry but two [Attorney General and Finance Ministry], so I am not surprised where I am being taken.”
“It is a responsibility. I have identified, studied, and followed sports, and we can work together as a country to bring our sports to a level that we all desire it to be,” he added.
The 49-year-old is expected to bring a new dynamic to Ghana’s sports sector, with a focus on improving sports infrastructure, securing funding for national teams, and enhancing performance at major tournaments.
