Southampton have long been relegated from the Premier League, but were fortunate to have avoided an unwanted record after Kamaldeen aided the team to earn a point against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The point against the defending league champions moves Southampton to 12 for the season.
Southampton’s tally of 12 points is more than the League’s all-time lowest point tally of 11 – by Derby County – two decades ago.
With three games to go, there were growing concerns about the Saints’ ability to pick up points in a vapid season.
Southampton, who had 11 points before their game against Manchester City, were in the running to match the league’s record.
However, the bottom placed side fought out of their skins for the point at St. Mary’s, with Kamaldeen Sulemana leading the charge.
The Ghanaian played 88 minutes before he was withdrawn.
Southampton, however, are yet to win a league game since February as they prepare to head back to the Championship.
