Abdul Fatawu Safiu says having the opportunity to play for Asante Kotoko twice makes him a lucky man to play for the club if his dreams twice.
The 26-year-old officially signed a two year contract with the Porcupine Warriors, committing to the club until January 2026.
The popular figure among Asante Kotoko fans was named the best player and top scorer of the NC’s special competition in 2019 and is making a return to the team after stints with Trelleborgs FF and FC Trollhättan in Sweden.
Speaking after his signing was announced, Safiu conveyed his delight to the club’s official website about the opportunity to return to Kotoko.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” he said.
“Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support and as a youngster it was my dream to play for Kotoko and to get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team.”
Having initially featured for Kotoko during the 2018-2019 season, Safiu made a significant impact, scoring 13 goals in sixteen appearances, including notable performances in the CAF Confederation Cup.
