Black Stars coach Otto Addo has clarified that Andre Ayew is still an option for the national team, but will only be called upon when necessary.
This comes after Ayew’s exclusion from the squad since Addo’s return in March 2024, sparking uncertainty about his future with the team.
Dede has been instrumental for Le Havre in the French Ligue One this season scoring four goals in 11 starts.
Following his absence his brother, Jordan Ayew, taking over as Black Stars captain, and Jordan has since led the team to victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
Addo emphasized that Ayew is not entirely ruled out, stating,”If we need Andre Ayew, we will call him. At the moment, I see others ahead of him,” Addo told Joy Sports.
The Black Stars are currently on top of Group I with 15 points after playing six games in the qualification campaign.
