Asante Kotoko’s title push suffered another setback after they were held to a goalless draw by Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Despite controlling large spells of the contest, the Porcupine Warriors could not find a way past a disciplined Chelsea defence.
The dropped points leave Kotoko six points adrift of the pace at the top of the Ghana Premier League table.
Captain Samba O’Neil did not shy away from the significance of the result, stressing the importance of making home advantage count.
“If you want to win the Ghana Premier League, you need to win your home matches.”
O’Neil admitted Kotoko’s lack of cutting edge proved costly on the afternoon.
“We struggled in attack, we will work hard in the following games.”
“I know they [fans]are not happy. I just have to apologize to them. They should forgive us and continue to support us.”
