Germany-Ghana winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht has joined Hertha BSC from Leverkusen on loan, completing a move to the 2. Bundesliga club at the age of 20.
The right winger’s transfer was finalised on 20 August 2026, with his Hertha contract running until 30 June 2027. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.
Alfa-Ruprecht was born in Hamburg on 28 March 2006 and stands 1.81m tall. He is right-footed and operates primarily on the right side of attack, giving Hertha a young wide player as they prepare for the new campaign.
His arrival represents a move from Germany’s top division to the second tier, with Leverkusen competing in the Bundesliga and Hertha playing in the 2. Bundesliga. The loan places Alfa-Ruprecht at a club with a different immediate competitive setting while his registration remains linked to his previous side.
Before joining Leverkusen, Alfa-Ruprecht collected honours during his time with Manchester City’s youth teams. He was part of the Manchester City U18 side that won the English Youth League in the 2022-23 season and the English FA Youth Cup in 2023-24.
He also won the U21 Premier League title with Manchester City U21 in the 2024-25 season. Those achievements form the main competitive honours of his career so far, before his switch to Hertha.
Alfa-Ruprecht’s listed market value is €3m, although that figure is separate from the terms of the loan agreement. His dual German and Ghanaian nationality reflects his background, while his place of birth is Hamburg.
Hertha BSC have confirmed the completed loan signing as the club adds Alfa-Ruprecht to its squad for the 2026-27 season.
