Francis Amuzu proved to be the match-winner for Anderlecht in their 2-1 victory against Union St.Gilloise in the Belgian First Division on Sunday at the Lotto Park.

The Ghanaian-born Belgian winger, came off the bench in the 37th minute to replace the injured Thorgan Hazard and scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute.

Prior to the game, the head-to-head record favored Union St.Gilloise with 10 wins, while Anderlecht had only one victory and one draw. However, Anderlecht took the lead in the 11th minute through Kasper Dolberg’s left-footed shot from the left side of the six-yard box.

The game took a turn in the 64th minute when Zeno Debast received a second yellow card for a bad foul, leaving Anderlecht with 10 men. Union St.Gilloise capitalized on the numerical advantage and equalized through Cameron Puertas’ penalty in the 67th minute.

However, Amuzu had the final say when he scored a brilliant goal, assisted by Killian Sardella, with a right-footed shot from the center of the box to the top left corner. Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru was an unused substitute for Anderlecht.
