Olympique Lyonnais have completed the signing of Danish-born Ghanaian midfielder Noah Nartey, marking another significant European move for a player with strong Ghanaian heritage.
The 20-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will see him remain at the Groupama Stadium until June 2030, ending his impressive rise with Danish Superliga outfit Brøndby IF.
Lyon are reported to have agreed a deal worth €7.5 million, with add-ons that could push the total package to €10 million. Brøndby have also secured a 20 percent sell-on clause, underlining how highly they rate the midfielder’s long-term potential.
Nartey, who currently represents Denmark at U21 level, has been one of the most consistent young performers in Denmark over the past two seasons. A graduate of Brøndby’s respected youth system, he forced his way into the first team early and has not looked back.
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, the versatile midfielder has racked up more than 70 senior appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and earning a reputation for composure well beyond his age. His ability to operate across multiple midfield roles, combined with sharp technical skills and tactical awareness, has made him a standout in the Superliga.
For Lyon, the move aligns with their long-term rebuild strategy, which focuses on identifying young talents with room to grow into elite-level performers. Club officials believe Nartey’s athleticism, mentality and football intelligence fit perfectly with their vision of building a competitive future while maintaining strong resale value.
With Ghana continuing to monitor players of dual nationality across Europe, Nartey’s progress in Ligue 1 will be followed closely back home. The challenge now is adapting to the demands of French top-flight football, where the young midfielder will aim to take the next step in a career that is already gathering serious momentum.
