Black Princesses head coach Charles Simpson has reaffirmed his side’s ambition to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team progressed to the final round of the qualifiers after a 3-2 aggregate triumph over South Africa women’s national under-20 football team.
After a 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Princesses secured qualification with a determined 1-0 victory in the return leg in Johannesburg.
The result sets up a decisive final-round clash against Uganda women’s national under-20 football team.
“Well, our goal is to go to the World Cup, and South Africa posed to be a challenge for us, so we are extremely happy we could surpass them,” Sampson said after the game.
“Now we will have time to prepare and look at which one is our next opponent,” he added.
The final qualifying round will be played over two legs in May 2026.
Fixtures are scheduled to take place between May 1 and May 10, with a World Cup ticket at stake.
