Ghana striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom has been named for the 2013 Golden Boy award for best under-21 player in Europe.
The Spain-based attacker is among the 40 players nominated for the top awat for the best U21 talent in Europe at the moment.
The Elche striker is among six youngsters chosen from the Spainish top-flight for the award ceremony to be held later this year.
The 2013 Golden Boy award which is handed out by Italian magazine ‘Tuttosport’ will see young players rewarded for their hard work.
Jesé RodrÃguez and Frenchman Rafael Varane (Real Madrid), Óliver Torres (Atlético de Madrid), Brazilian Rafinha (Celta), Uruguyan Sebastián Cristóforo (Sevilla) and Ghanaian Richmond Boakye (Elche) who play in Spain, are among the 40 candidates to win the 2013 Golden Boy award.
They face competition from Brazilians Fred (Shakthar), Marquinhos (PSG) and Vitinho (CSKA Moscow); Colombians Brayan Perea (Lazio) and Juan Quintero (Porto).
Also nominated are Argentine Mauro Icardi (Inter); Paraguayan Juan Manuel Iturbe (Verona) and Uruguayans Diego Laxalt (Bolonia) and Nicolás López (Udinese).
The last winner of the award was former Málaga player Isco Alarcón. Rooney (2004), Messi (2005), Fábregas (2006), Agüero (2007), Balotelli (2010) and Gotze (2011) are some of the other previous winners.
