Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Medeama, Aduana FC and several other Ghana Premier League clubs have completed a busy round of late recruitment ahead of the 2026-27 season, which begins on 4 September.
The transfer activity has seen established top-flight sides reshape their squads, while ambitious clubs lower down the football pyramid have also made significant additions. Deals include permanent signings, free-agent arrivals and several long-term contracts.
Medeama were among the most active clubs, strengthening in midfield, defence and attack. Etse Dogli joined from Heart of Lions on a three-year contract, while Emmanuel Boateng moved from Eleven Wonders on a two-year deal. Free agent Dominic Frimpong also signed a three-year agreement to add further attacking options.
The Mauve and Yellows also recruited Usman Safianu, Abdul Rahman Yaya, Emmanuel Annor from Nations FC and winger Emmanuel Fobi from Georgia’s Dila Gori, with Fobi signing a three-year deal.
Their other arrivals are Issah Ibrahim from Latvia, Sudanese goalkeeper Monged Abuzaid Salman, midfielder Blessing Kwabena Dwamena, Jelillu Osman from New Edubiase, Emmanuel Anokye from Sporting Club Accra and right-back Ebenezer Adade from Dreams FC.
Port City FC have added experience and depth, signing free agents Kwabena Adu Meider and Francis Gyetuah. Stephen Diyou has joined from Hohoe United, while Gideon Waja has arrived from WAFA.
The club have also brought in Ishak Suraj from Lebanese side Al Ahly, free-agent defender Samuel Gyimah, goalkeeper Daniel Amissah on a two-year deal and Elliot Affotey from Heart of Lions on a three-year contract. Defensive midfielder Daniel Osei Snr. has also moved from Hohoe United.
Hearts of Oak have focused heavily on young talent. Abdul Aziz has joined from Swedru All Blacks on a three-year deal and free agent Ebenezer Amoh has signed for two years.
The Phobians have secured Rockson Kyeremeh and centre-back Manuel Osei Djan from PAC Academy, with both players agreeing five-year contracts. Their other recruits are Caleb Koranteng from Victory Club Warriors, Alex Banso from Namoro FC, free-agent right-back Prince Amevor, goalkeeper Vicente Anane, Ivorian forward Mamadou Kader Kourouma and free-agent defensive midfielder Dominic Nsobila.
Swedru All Blacks have also assembled a sizeable group of new players. Mohammed Musah Salifu has arrived from Tamale City, David Lartey from Dreams Chasers, Prince Arthur and Kelvin Ampoful from Nations FC, and winger Samuel Osei Kofi from Nsuopun Fidelity.
The club have further signed free agent Faisal Chawetey, forward Vincent Baah Jnr from Tema Faith, centre-back Michael Abrokwa from Nations FC, forward John Ahuma Ocansey, midfielder Godfred Yartey from Cheetah FC, winger Andy Koramoah from Auroras, right-back Kojo Quansah from Samartex and defender Latif Blessing from Cheetah FC.
FC Samartex have made four additions. Ebenezer Okrah and Prince Affum have joined from Sefwi All Stars, Joshua Fuseini has arrived from Golden Kick, and Meshack Adjetey Sowah has moved from Vision FC on a three-year deal.
Aduana FC have recruited in both defensive and attacking areas. Free agent Shawkan Hunalf Mohammed has signed, alongside defensive midfielder Samuel Tenedu from Berekum Chelsea and centre-back Boa-At Regain from Bechem United.
The club have also added free agent Stephen Amankona, right-back Abdul Latif Mohammed from Victory Club Warriors, winger Emmanuel Abban from Bechem United, Zakaria Fuseini from Techiman Liberty Youth and free-agent left-back Bismark Anim, who has agreed a two-year contract.
FC Ashantigold have looked beyond Ghana as well as within the domestic market. Raphael Kodjo Etchonou has arrived from ESA Academy in Togo, while Burkina Faso defender Ben Yamine Nassirou Kabore has joined from Etoile Filante.
Free-agent right-back Kamal Suraje has signed a three-year deal, as has goalkeeper Kwaku Musah. Other additions include Fatao Seidu, Sirinu Huzaifah from Skyy FC, Saddick Ibrahim Abubakar from Skyy, Ishmael Acquah from Skyy, William Addo from Unity FC, free-agent winger Alhassan Benny and goalkeeper Thomas Kwabena Osei from Heart of Lions.
Gold Stars have added attacking strength through Nicholas Amekpewu from Elmina Sharks, who has signed for three years. Centre-back Claude Shooting Bortey has arrived as a free agent, while Kwame Opoku has joined on a two-year deal.
Heart of Lions have built a new-look squad with several free-agent signings. Francis Odoom has moved from Hohoe United on a two-year contract, while centre-back Abdul Jalilu, goalkeeper Edmund Wireko, winger William Oduro, centre-back Pius Baffuor, winger Sena Ati and forward Mustapha Yakubu have also joined.
Stephen Afoakwa, who arrives from Faith Football Academy, is another addition to the Heart of Lions squad.
Berekum Chelsea have signed forward Jamal Haruna on a three-year deal. Diawisie Taylor, Awuah Dramani, Chyereme Shadirac, Fuseini Zakaria, goalkeeper Zulka Massawudu and Augustine Boakye have also joined the club.
Asante Kotoko have recruited goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim on a two-year contract. The Porcupine Warriors have also added Emmanuel Mamah, Ivorian centre-back Koffi Marius Ange Bini, free agent Isaac Opoku Agyemang, Burkina Faso midfielder Abdoul Kader Tarnagda, Cameroonian midfielder Solomon Nsor Asaah, Moroccan goalkeeper Abdel Wadie Mourad and Albanian defender Umar Ali from Partizani.
Karela United have signed Wisdom Jonas Manyina from RTU on a three-year deal. Their other arrivals are Frank Ackom from Nsuopun Fidelity, Iddi Mahfuz, Edmund Afurapoe from Eleven Wonders, goalkeeper Kwaku Musah, Angel Ewulla, Collins Ntiful from Okwawu United, Issah Abdul Basit from Golden Warriors, forward Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli, Ebenezer Amegah from Hohoe United and free-agent forward Prince Opoku Agyemang.
Vision FC have added Kwadwo Boamah from Hohoe United and Faruk Mohammed from Nations FC.
With the transfer deadline passed and the opening matchday scheduled for 4 September, clubs will now switch their focus from recruitment to preparation. The scale of the activity means many teams will begin the new campaign with substantially altered squads, leaving coaches with the task of integrating their signings and building cohesion before the first whistle of the Ghana Premier League season.
