The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and FIFA will present a global review of amateur football, alongside a report examining the development environment in Ghana, at a two-day event in Accra.
The Amateur Football Environment Analysis presentation will take place at the Alisa Hotel from 25 to 26 August 2026. The Ghana report is the result of a multi-year analysis of amateur football in the country.
The programme is being organised by the GFA Technical Directorate in partnership with FIFA’s Global Football Development Division. FIFA Technical Experts Ali Mwebe and Serame Ezekiel Letsoaka, who is in charge of amateur football in Africa, will lead the sessions with support from the GFA Technical Directorate.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku is scheduled to open the event on Wednesday. The first presentation will be attended by the Association’s Executive Committee, management and staff.
External stakeholders will take part in the programme on Thursday. Those expected to attend include representatives from the Ministry for Sports and Recreation, National Sports Authority, Ministry of Education, Ghana Olympic Committee and Ghana Education Services.
The Women’s Football Committee, representatives of the leagues, sporting media, Medical Committee and Referees Committee will also be involved. Coaches of junior national teams, as well as representatives from Beach Soccer, the Futsal Committee and academies, are also included among the stakeholders.
The analysis is expected to provide an overview of the structures and activities that shape amateur football both globally and in Ghana. It will also examine the wider environment in which the amateur game operates.
Organisers say the sessions will give stakeholders an opportunity to discuss the findings, exchange views and identify possible areas for cooperation. The broader aim is to help advance amateur football in Ghana by encouraging greater collaboration among the organisations and groups involved in the game.
The programme will also allow participants to share their knowledge and practical experience with senior figures from the bodies responsible for governing football.
The presentation forms part of the GFA’s engagement with FIFA on the development of the amateur game and is intended to bring together officials, sporting institutions, administrators, technical personnel and other contributors to football in Ghana.
By presenting both the global report and the country-specific findings, the event will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to consider Ghana’s amateur football structures within a wider international context. It will also create a platform for discussion between football authorities and organisations working across sport, education, youth development, officiating, medical support and the various forms of the game.
The two-day gathering in Accra is therefore expected to focus not only on the findings of the analysis, but also on how those findings can inform future cooperation and development in Ghana’s amateur football system.
