Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Committee member Frederick Acheampong has made a strong case for former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew to be included in the team’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers squad.
Ayew, 35, has been in impressive form for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre, scoring and assisting in their recent 3-4 win over RC Lens.
Despite his age, Ayew continues to demonstrate his ability to perform at a high level, with four goals and an assist in 17 appearances this season.
“Dede Ayew is one of the Black Stars’ most committed players. As long as he is playing competitive football, his teammates in his team in France, some of them play for their national teams,” Frederick said.
“So if he is in the right frame of mind and playing top-level football in France, and the coach feels that he needs him, why not? He has always showed commitment whenever he is given the opportunity to play for the Black Stars,” Frederick told Akoma FM
Coach Otto Addo is set to announce his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
