Ghanaian attacker Abednego Tetteh has announced his retirement from Kpando Heart of Lions, effective March 4, 2025. The decision follows controversy sparked by Tetteh’s recent media comments.
In an interview with Lawson TV, Tetteh called for the cancellation of the league and the dismissal of Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials, suggesting they should be investigated and the government should manage the league.
“The government should cancel the league and sack everyone at the FA. They should be investigated and the government should manage the league, ” Tetteh said
The GFA subsequently charged Tetteh with breaching Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Ghana Premier League regulations, giving him until March 5 to respond.
Kpando Heart of Lions also distanced themselves from Tetteh’s comments, fueling speculation that his retirement is linked to the club’s decision.
Tetteh joined Kpando Heart of Lions in August 2024 from Bibiani Gold Stars and previously played for Hearts of Oak.
