Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Kofi Abanga blames low standard of GPL for poor stadium attendance

Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Kofi Abanga says the Ghana Premier League do not attract fans to the stadium because of its low standard.

There have been low turnouts recorded at some stadia over the weekend in the Ghana Premier League.

Some Ghanaians over the years have said that their sudden love for foreign football to the neglect of the domestic top-flight is because the local leagues are not competitive.

In an interview, the former Aduana Stars midfielder attributed the poor stadium attendance to the low standard of the Ghana Premier League.

“There is no quality in the league now. During our time, fans were patronizing the league because of some top players. Our time, we had Obed Ansah, Bossman, myself and other top players and it helped in stadium attendance but at the moment, you won’t get it that way because there is no qualify”

“We don’t have quality no and it all bounds down to our leaders, they are undermining the game and if they don’t stand firm our league will continue to decline” he said.
