Final farewell: Late Black Stars player Raphael Dwamena to be laid to rest on February 16, 2024

Ghana prepares to bid farewell to late Black Stars player Raphael Dwamena, who tragically passed away after collapsing on the football pitch during a League match in Albania.

The former Ghana striker, aged 28, will be laid to rest on Friday, February 16, 2024. Dwamena suffered a fatal heart attack during a league game between Egnatia and Partizani, collapsing in the 24th minute and passing away shortly after at Kavaja Hospital.

Dwamena’s career suffered various setbacks after he was first detected to have a heart problem in 2017.

Dwamena scored on his debut for Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia in 2017.

He was the Albanian league’s leading scorer before his unfortunate demise.

Despite his untimely demise, Dwamena’s legacy lives on, having represented Ghana nine times and scored two goals.

The Ghana Football Association has pledged support for his family’s funeral arrangements, with the funeral and burial service set to take place at the Adjiriganor Astro Turf in Accra.
