CAF President Dr Motsepe addresses global sport journalists during  AIPS Centenary Congress

Dr Motsepe congratulated the President of AIPS Gianni Merlo, AIPS Africa President Abdoulaye Thiam, the Leadership and members of AIPS for reaching 100 years and for their contribution in Football Development.

The CAF President underscored the importance of media freedom and safeguarding ethical sport journalism.

“The future of African football is dependent on the investment in the youth and CAF is committed to work together with like-minded organizations including AIPS through programmes like the CAF African Schools Football Championship Young Reporter’s Programme. We must encourage young Africans to pursue sport journalism and give them hope. We need to attract the smartest and the brightest.” 

The CAF President thanked AIPS and the media for their contribution in making TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 the best in the history of CAF.

He added: “We are making progress. CAF is now seen and respected as a football organisation where there is good governance and adherence to ethics and global standards.  I am confident that the future of African football looks bright.”
