Essien has been training in Kumasi with the Stars but will travel with Rajevac and some other players to Accra to attend the launch of the Michael Essien Foundation and a dinner dance in Accra.
The Chelsea star has been criticised in some quarters for the timing of the event but Rajevac says they should be able to handle the demands of the two.
“We are professionals and can cope with things like this,” he told KickOffGhana.com. “I will travel with some of the players and back well in time for the game late on Sunday because sometimes it is not just about the football.”
The Serbian intends to play his best players for the Mali tie because he says it is important for the psychology of the team that they get back to winning ways after the losing two games on the bounce.
“I have always said this is an important game for us and we want to win. It is also nice to see so many people at the training sessions because then you know the nation is behind you. We want to win for them.”
