Demoted Ashgold SC to face off with Ghana FA in Court on September 27

Former Ghana Premier League side, Ashanti Gold Sporting Club will next week be in court to face the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Obuasi-based club has dragged the country’s football association before court after the club was demoted to the National Division Two League.

The Ghana FA announced the demotion in the final weeks of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.

The decision was taken after Ashanti Gold SC and Inter Allies FC was found guilty of match-fixing allegations.

Before the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season, Ashanti Gold SC secured an interlocutory injunction to force the GFA to put it on hold.

Despite the injunction, the GFA proceeded and allow the Ghana Premier League season to start.

Subsequently, the Ghana FA has been cited for contempt after going against the court order.

In letters intercepted by footballghana, a court date has been fixed for the case between Ashanti Gold and the Ghana FA to be heard.

The Accra High Court will sit on the case on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
