Charles Bulu has been appointed to referee the third edition of the Democracy Cup between Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC.

The match is scheduled to take place on Friday, 28 August 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with kick-off set for 4:00 p.m.

The fixture will bring together two of the country’s leading Premier League clubs as part of celebrations marking 32 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana. The Democracy Cup is being organised to commemorate that milestone, with this year’s meeting between Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC providing the centrepiece of the event.

Bulu will be supported by a four-member officiating team for the contest. Seth Abletor has been appointed Assistant I, while Richard Nartey will serve as Assistant II.

Julian Nunoo will take up the role of Fourth Referee, and James Odoom has been selected as Match Commissioner.

The appointments confirm the officials who will oversee the meeting at Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where the two Premier League giants will compete in the third edition of the Democracy Cup.

Asante Kotoko SC and Accra Hearts of Oak SC are described as rivals in the fixture announcement, underlining the significance of their meeting in a competition organised around Ghana’s parliamentary democracy anniversary.

The game’s date, venue and kick-off time have all been confirmed, with Bulu due to lead the refereeing team for the occasion. His assistants, the Fourth Referee and Match Commissioner will work alongside him in managing the fixture.

The Democracy Cup has been staged as part of the commemoration of 32 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana. The 2026 edition will therefore centre on a meeting between two of the country’s biggest football clubs, with Asante Kotoko SC facing Accra Hearts of Oak SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The announcement was issued by GFA Communications.
