Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku will remain at the helm of the football governing body until 2027, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed George Afriyie’s appeal for re-election.
Afriyie was disqualified from the race due to his inability to secure the required number of member endorsements for his candidacy.
The CAS upheld the decision of the GFA’s Appeals Committee and ordered the former GFA Vice President to cover the costs of arbitration.
Also, Afriyie must pay the FA an amount of 1,000 Swiss francs as a contribution towards its legal fees and other expenses incurred during the arbitration process.
The disqualified FA hopeful is yet to comment on the verdict but it appears his ambition to be the president has been shattered.
