Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has joined Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu at English side Everton after penning a two-year deal.
The Cameroon international joined the Toffees on a free transfer on Tuesday night after his one-year contract with Chelsea ended during the summer.
The 33-year-old spent last season with Chelsea having previously played for Barcelona and Inter Milan amongst others.
His experience will come in handy for Atsu who can count on his African mentor for guidance on how to improve as a player at the top level.
Eto’o will also count of the swift passing of the Ghanaian youngster to help him score goals for the Toffees.
On the face of it, Eto’o is a very smart signing given that there was no transfer fee involved, and he will be a strong back up to big money acquisition Romelu Lukaku.
And Everton manager Roberto Martinez was pleased with his new capture, who won three Champions League medals along with a host of league titles for some of Europe’s top clubs.
