The Portsmouth midfielder has wooed many Ghanaians with his upbeat displays for the struggling English premiership side and is due for a meeting this week with Milovan Rajevac who has called him an excellent player.
But while the player has officially served notice of his desire to switch from German youth international to a full scale Ghanaian international his final application has been held up by the delay in the release of documents confirming his father’s status as a Ghanaian.
“It is the personal details of his father that was holding it down but we should get that sorted out by today,” Randy Abbey spokesman for the GFA told kickoffGhana.com.
“What I don’t know is whether we can finish that with Fifa before the Christmas break.”
The GFA are keen for the switch to completed in time for the player to make the trip for the Nations Cup in Angola in January but there will be no panic especially when Quincy Owusu-Abeyie only had his switch formalised by Fifa on the eve of the deadline for the submission of squads for the last Nations Cup in Ghana.
