Ashgold loses appeal filed to overturn demotion; set to play in Division 2 next season

Ghana Premier League side, Ashanti Gold SC has lost the appeal against the ruling demoting the cub to compete in the National Division Two League next season.

In the final weeks to the end of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, it can be recalled that the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) ruled on the match-fixing allegation between Inter Allies and Ashgold.

The ruling which was contained in a statement on the website of the Ghana Football Association found both clubs guilty and hence ruled that they both be demoted to the National Division Two League.

Unhappy with the ruling with the argument that Ashanti Gold SC never engaged in any match-fixing with Inter Allies FC, officials of the club filed an appeal at the Ghana FA Appeals Committee.

While the club hoped to reverse the ruling, it has been rejected.

As a result, the initial ruling from the Disciplinary Committee which demoted Ashanti Gold SC to the National Division One League is to stand.
