AshantiGold and Inter Allies appeals against their demotion sanction by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has been unsuccessful.
The two clubs were relegated to tier three of Ghana Football after being found guilty of match manipulation on Matchday 34 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
AshantiGold netted five unanswered goals against Allies – a scoreline that had been fixed beforehand for betting purposes.
But Allies defender, Hashmin Musah deliberately scored two own goals as the game ended 7-0 with the objective of ‘spoiling’ the bet.
It took the Ghana Football Association close to a year to put together evidence to punish the two implicated clubs with demotion to Division Two and fine of 100,000 Ghana cedis each.
In effect, the clubs wrote to the Appeals committee of the GFA to overturn the verdict which has been dismissed.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports and FIFA are the two options available to overrule the verdict and it is unknown if the clubs will lodge an appeal to the international bodies.
Ashgold finished 7th in the Ghana Premier League last season while Allies finished 11th in the Division One Zone three.
