In November 2020, after Harrison Afful withdrew due to injuries, he received his first call-up to the Black Stars for a double-header 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.

He made his debut against Sudan in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers Group C match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, starting in the right-back position as Ghana won 2-0.

Nettey is without a club now, however he is expected to join a Premier League soon with Hearts of Oak interested in acquiring his services.

He has previously featured for Accra Great Olympics on loan.
