Orlando Pirates’ 2013 Champions League away leg final against Al Ahly has been moved to the Arab Contractors stadium, putting pressure on FIFA to be resolute on its decision regarding the Cairo venue for the World Cup play-off between Egypt and Ghana.
Al Ahly werewere scheduled to play their second leg tie at the Air Defence Stadium but the match has been moved due to security concerns, with sources indicating that Al Ahly club president Hassan Hamdi sent a letter to the Egyptian Minister of Sports, Taher Abu Zeid, to arrange the change in venue.
Indications also suggest that the Egyptian Football Union moved the match to a more secure location to ensure nothing compromises the Egyptian national team’s next 2014 World Cup qualifier against Ghana on November 19.
World governing body, FIFA is expected to announce within 48 hours if Egypt will be allowed to host the second leg fixture against the Black Stars at the Air Defense stadium in Cairo.
