Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has offered crucial advice to his former club, Asante Kotoko, as they prepare for next season’s domestic and continental challenges.
The Porcupine Warriors fell short of a league triumph in the just-ended campaign but clinched the MTN FA Cup after a 2-1 victory over Golden Kick, securing a spot in the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.
They followed it up by beating rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1 to win the 2025 President’s Cup.
Speaking on Kessben FM in Kumasi, Badu, who played for Italian clubs Udinese and Hellas Verona, urged Kotoko to bolster their squad in two key areas.
“Currently, Kotoko need a typical striker to complement Kwame Poku,” he said.
“In the midfield, I think Kotoko will need a defensive midfielder to help Emmanuel Antwi and Seth Kwadwo to excel in matches. If they are able to fix these challenges, I think Kotoko will be ready for the African campaign.”
Kotoko are expected to travel to South Africa soon to face Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup as part of their pre-season build-up.
