AFCON 2025: Regragui Warns Morocco Against Complacency: “We’ll Respect Tanzania”

Morocco coach Walid Regragui has warned his team against complacency ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last-16 clash against Tanzania, saying “Our players will remain humble, everybody is saying we’re favourites”.

Regragui attributes Morocco’s 50-year AFCON drought to overconfidence, stating “The reason we haven’t won the AFCON over 50 years is overconfidence. We didn’t win because we lacked humility at certain moments.”

The Moroccan coach emphasized the importance of respecting their opponents, saying “We will respect Tanzania”.

Morocco is the top-ranked team at the tournament and is favored to win, but Regragui is cautious of underestimating Tanzania, who secured a spot in the knockout stage with just two points from three matches
