The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a series of major commercial partnerships covering competitions from Colts football and youth development to the Women’s Premier League and Division One League.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku made the announcements at the 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
He said the growing involvement of corporate institutions represented increasing confidence in the Football Association’s vision for domestic football and its progress in developing the game.
“Corporate Ghana continues to demonstrate unwavering confidence in our vision for the development of domestic football,” he said.
“The growing commitment of the corporate community is a strong endorsement of the progress we have made and a clear indication that our competitions continue to offer a credible and attractive platform for strategic partnerships and long-term investment.”
Among the agreements announced is a three-year partnership between the GFA and Kivo Ghana to support Colts football.
Kivo Ghana and JLAB will jointly serve as title sponsors of the revived U-17 Boys Inter-Clubs Colts Championship. The arrangement is intended to provide fresh commercial backing for grassroots football and create more competitive opportunities for young players.
New backing for women’s and Division One competitions
The Women’s Premier League has secured Gold Fields Ghana as its headline sponsor for the next two years. KFC will also support the competition as its Official Meal Sponsor.
President Simeon-Okraku said the agreements would improve the commercial appeal and professional image of the women’s competition while contributing to the continued development of women’s football in Ghana.
There is also new investment at Division One level, with XI Energy Drink signing a four-year agreement to become headline sponsor of the Division One League Super Cup.
The deal represents a significant commercial boost for one of the GFA’s newest competitions and supports the Association’s efforts to reward excellence among Division One clubs.
Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) has separately become the new headline sponsor of the Division One League on a three-year agreement.
President Simeon-Okraku described the partnership as an important development for Ghana’s second-tier competition. He also announced that UMB would work with the GFA to introduce the maiden UMB U-19 Premier League.
The new tournament will focus on the transition from juvenile to senior football by giving young players a structured and competitive environment in which to continue their development.
“This pilot competition will provide another structured pathway for our young footballers to continue their development in a highly competitive environment,” the President said.
The GFA also acknowledged the contribution of Access Bank, which previously served as headline sponsor of the Division One League.
“I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Access Bank for its invaluable support and partnership over the years, which contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the Division One League,” he said.
The move to appoint UMB as the competition’s new headline partner, President Simeon-Okraku suggested, reflects the GFA’s continued work to establish strong and sustainable commercial foundations for domestic football.
KGL partnership extended
The Football Association has also secured a two-year extension to its partnership with KGL.
KGL will continue as headline sponsor of the KGL U-17 Colts Inter-Regional Championship under the renewed agreement. The partnership has played a significant role in supporting youth football across Ghana.
The range of agreements announced at Congress extends across grassroots Colts football, youth development, women’s football, the Division One League and its related competitions, highlighting the GFA’s strategy of widening the commercial base of Ghana’s domestic game.
