Assistant coach of the Sudan national football team, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, says he was never officially approached about the head coaching role at Asante Kotoko SC despite recent speculation.

The former Dreams FC and King Faisal F.C. manager currently serves as assistant to Kwesi Appiah in Sudan.

Appiah also works with Kotoko as the club’s Head of Sporting Affairs.

Osei-Fosu said hearing his name linked with top coaching roles shows recognition for his work in football.

However, he stressed that no official communication was made to him regarding the Kotoko position.

“In the first place, if your name comes up, it means that you have done a fantastic job. But nobody actually contacted me,” Osei-Fosu told Luv FM.

The coach explained that he carefully evaluates opportunities before accepting new positions.

“Timing of the job is always of the essence to me.

“When I’m picking jobs, it’s always the right time. I don’t jump into it. From the start of my career, my people and I have always talked about timing, so there have been different jobs at different times,” he explained.

He added that another Ghana Premier League club also reached out to him earlier in the season.

According to Osei-Fosu, he declined the offer because the moment was not suitable for him to take up a new role.

“In fact, when I came to Ghana earlier this season, there was a Ghana Premier League club that contacted me. But I told them the time was not right,” he added.
