Senegalese footballers Ismaila Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye have received two-match suspensions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for unsporting behavior towards the referee, following the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
The CAF Disciplinary Board imposed the sanctions after reviewing incidents from the heated final, which violated provisions of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
Both players were found guilty of unsporting behavior during the match.
Sarr and Ndiaye’s suspensions mean they will miss two official CAF matches.
The sanctions are part of a broader set of disciplinary measures announced by CAF, including a five-match ban for Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw and a $615,000 fine for the Senegal Football Federation (FSF).
