The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally charged Young Apostles FC head coach William Affoakwa after he alleged in a recent media interview that “it is the referees and the club owners who decide the outcome of the match.”
Affoakwa’s remarks, made in the aftermath of his side’s recent Ghana Premier League fixture, have been deemed to breach Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019, which prohibits statements that bring the competition into disrepute or damage public confidence in its integrity.
The GFA views the comments as a direct challenge to the credibility of the league and has moved swiftly to initiate disciplinary action. Coach Affoakwa has until Monday, June 16, 2025, to respond to the charge.
This marks a new twist in the unfolding story around Young Apostles FC, whose season has been marred by controversy both on and off the pitch.
