FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur has predicted a tough and exciting clash in the 2024/25 FA Cup final between Asante Kotoko and Division One side Golden Kick, set for Sunday, June 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium. Kickoff is at 5:00 PM.
Despite the difference in division, Arthur believes Golden Kick’s dream run makes them a legitimate threat to the Premier League giants.
“It won’t be an easy match for Kotoko,” he told Peace FM, .Golden Kick have truly lived up to the FA Cup’s reputation for surprises.”
Golden Kick’s path to the final has been nothing short of remarkable. They knocked out Accra Hearts of Oak in the Round of 16, stunned Premier League side Karela United in the quarter-finals at the Baba Yara Stadium, and sealed their spot in the final with a convincing 3-1 win over fellow Division One side Attram Di Visser.
Arthur was quick to point out the significance of that semifinal win.
“Attram Di Visser had eliminated the league champions Gold Stars earlier, so for Golden Kick to beat them 3-1 was an emphatic statement,” he said.
Asante Kotoko, aiming to add another trophy to their storied history, will head into the final as favourites. But Arthur’s comments serve as a warning: underestimate Golden Kick at your peril.
