Hearts of Oak edged Legon Cities 1-0 with ten men to climb to second place in the Ghana Premier League standings.

The Phobians recorded back-to-back victories, following last week’s win over Accra Lions with Friday evening’s hard-fought triumph at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Both sides created opportunities in the first half, but Yussif Ramzy’s 45th-minute strike handed Hearts a vital lead just before the break.

The game took a challenging turn for Hearts when Emmanuel Amankwah received a second yellow card in the 82nd minute, leaving them to defend their narrow advantage with ten men.

Legon Cities dominated the second half, forcing goalkeeper Benjamin Asare into several crucial saves. However, Hearts’ defense stood firm, denying the visitors an equalizer.

The defeat keeps Legon Cities rooted to the bottom of the table with 11 points from 16 games. They will face Dreams FC in their next fixture.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak, now in second place with 28 points, are set to visit the Nsenkyire Arena to take on Samartex in their upcoming match.
