Hearts of Oak say their efforts to renew the contract of striker Mahatma Otoo are being frustrated by his manager, Ashford Tetteh-Oku.
The Phobians ran the risk of losing their top striker for absolutely nothing as his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Hearts of Oak however want to secure their interest in time before Otoo’s contract runs out with growing interests from teams abroad.
The leading scorer of the Ghana Premier League has been heavily linked to join English club Sunderland with French side Olympique Lyon also lurking to pounce.
South African club Mamelodi Sundowns have also tabled an offer for the yet-to-be-capped Black Stars player.
The situation has seen Hearts desperate to tie Otoo to a contract but Public Relations Officer of the club Muheeb Saeed, says the player’s manager is making things difficult.
“Mahatma himself is interested in staying at Hearts but we are facing a difficulty from his manager (Ashford Tetteh-Oku),†Saeed told Accra-based Adom FM.
“We have to plan for the coming season so we want to be sure whether we will have him for next season or not.â€
Saeed’s revelation is however not far-fetched with the acrimony surrounding the exit of Tetteh-Oku who served as Hearts’ Administrative Manager for decades.
