Karela United have moved six points clear of the Ghana Premier League relegation zone courtesy a 1-0 victory over Nations FC at home on Saturday.

Giyas Ibrahim’s second-half penalty separated the two teams at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex and enhance United’s chances of staying afloat.

The visitors were threatening, but it was Karela United that made the breakthrough from the penalty spot in the 50th minute of the contest through Giya Ibrahim.

Karela United remain adrift at the bottom but are now only six points from the safety zone — two above Hearts of Oak and on same point with Asante Kotoko.

The Pride and Passion have now recorded back-t0-back wins in Ghana’s top-flight after their remarkable 2-1 win at Aduana Stars last weekend.

Nation FC’s Premier League title hopes has been dealt a further blow after their latest defeat left them 10 points behind leaders FC Samartex 1996.
